“Peanut got her Angel Wings and is LOVING them. She was constantly bumping her eyes and crying. Now she is happy to walk around both inside and outside. THANK YOU ANGELS!!! You truly are saving dogs quality of life! Attached are a few pictures of Peanut in her wings. She is hard to photograph now because she is always on the move.”

Back Story
– S.N.O.R.T. (Short Nose Only Rescue Team) was contacted about a female pug that was dropped off by an owner who said they couldn’t afford her anymore. She is diabetic and hadn’t been treated for some time. She had wasted away to a mere 8 lbs and due to the untreated diabetes, she had advanced cataracts and the start of glaucoma. She was quite literally on deaths door and SNORT had her admitted to a local emergency clinic. She spent the next week there trying to keep all her organs from shutting down and get her on insulin. They didn’t know how long she would survive and thought it would be best to get her into a home environment to see if she would bounce back quicker.
She was then transported from NY City to Niagara Falls Canada where she would spend the next year with us. When I picked her up I knew I had a task in front of me. But, even in her sickly state she was still happy to see you and only wanted to be picked up and hugged. Peanut the Warrior Princess Pug was with us for about a week when she took a turn for the worse (pancreatitis) and had to be admitted to emergency again, where she had to fight for her life for a second time in less than a month. Once she got out we had to be very careful with her, because of some of her organ damage her diet has to be very strict. She is on 3 different medications for her eyes because she has dry eye on top of pressure issues. We have been able to fight off the glaucoma for now and will continue to medicate. But, her floating cataracts caused a lot of damage in her eye moving around all the time. A month ago she lost all sight in her “good” eye. The Ophthalmologist thinks that the cataract moved and detached her retina.
So, now Peanut is totally blind and having a bit of a hard time adapting. We try to call her when she is about to walk into something, and for the most part it is working. But, when she does walk into something she cries a horrible cry and it breaks our heart. Peanut is a true fighter, a Warrior Princess Pug! She will be able to continue to thrive and be safe with the use of a Muffin’s Halo.
