“Angel” Trooper

Update
My heart is broken into a million pieces. For a year we have completely changed our lives forever & for the better. Yesterday our baby trooper crossed the rainbow bridge. As much as it hurts and we were not ready to say goodbye he was in terrible shape. They didn’t think he would make it a few months let alone a full year. He definitely was THE definition of a rescue at least for me anyway. I cannot explain how truly grateful I am to everyone who donated months ago to help him get an MRI to confirm our biggest fear & then to support us along the way. Our lives won’t be the same without him but I know he is better than he has ever been & knows the love we had for him.
Backstory
We found trooper in the bed of a truck in the middle of winter (20 degrees). We immediately brought him to the vet. I had thought he may have had parvo because he was so weak he couldn’t open his eyes or mouth & was also extremely skinny. Troopers gums where also white as can be. The veterinarian started him on fluids and had the girls syringe feed him every 3 hours. Once they took him off of the fluid they realized he wouldn’t drink water so they started giving him water via syringe. The next day my husband and I brought him home. Trooper was so bad off that he could barley even walk. We even did water therapy with him to get his legs stronger. One day when I went to feed trooper I noticed he started hitting my hand with his mouth so we smashed some can food up and let him lick it out of a bowl. After about 2 weeks of not getting any better and not gaining any weight we brought him back to the vet. At that time our veterinarian told us he could have hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain). I immediately started crying trying to figure out where to go from there. My vet then advised me that an MRI which would give us answers would be about $1,500 on the cheap side. I have a good friend that owns a rescue so we decided to put on a fundraiser. In the mean time we continued to try to make him stronger and continued soaking/mashing food and administering water to him thru a syringe. In a short period of time we came up with the money and made an appointment for our sweet rescue. About a week after our appointment I got the most terrifying phone call, it was true he had fluid on his brain. So now we wait, we wait for the day he goes to the rainbow bridge but until then we keep him comfortable and not let him be in any pain.
Trooper sleeps a lot but in very active when awake and even tries to run around our home.
