Backstory

“Stevie came to the Osceola County Animal Shelter as a stray with severe glaucoma. The eyes were bulging outside of the sockets and he was in severe pain, so both eyes needed to be removed because of the damage. He is also heartworm positive, and we are going to be starting his treatment soon thanks to a donation.

He is a very sweet and loving dog. He is a very calm dog. He is having a hard time learning to move around his surroundings.”

Backstory

Dear Silvie, I am writing to you because I’m convinced that you are my last resort. I would like you to help me. Let me tell you a story.

Hi, my name is Cesar and I don’t exactly remember how old I am but my aunts say that I’m 2 or 3 years old. They can not exactly state it  because of my condition while they had found me. I don’t remember a lot from this period of my life, I was in pain, wasted and suddenly the night has come and it still is. Awkward cause it has always been a sun but now there is nothing. However, I have ears, nose so I’m doing quite well actually. It is said my weight hit only 13kg and I was barely standing on my own legs. Now it is just a bad memory, I’m feeling good, my weight got higher and I feel like a fish in the water. I love exploring new places, meet new people – especially people because there is nothing better than scratch behind ear and ramp.It is said I’m a great dog that I could be someone’s true best friend… It is said but I haven’t found anyone who could love me. That’s why I am living in a shelter waiting for HIM (or HER) – my guardian angel, loyal friend, guide. Every day I wake up in a good mood with hope that today will be a day when I find my dreaming home.If you want to give me eternal place to live, a house where I could live till my lasts day – contact with my friends, they will answer any question. One of my aunts is behaviorist and she says that after adoption my new owners can count on her support in terms of adapting to the new conditions.
Dear Silvie, Cesar arrived to me on Sunday the 14th of February to the pet hotel. A group of pets lovers had taken him from a shelter and sent him to me. They had transported him by their own car and gathered some money for maintain. He has become my charge. I’m going to work on him. Teach him a life so he could find a new home. I am an instructor and behaviorist.
It is almost certain that he has no chance for adoption while being in a shelter. It is hard for me to look at Cesar, which bumps into furniture and other stuff, and it’s gonna take a long time before I teach him everything. I am asking you to help us and to stand him this specialized equipment, because people who fight for Cesar’s better life cannot afford it. Thanks to this device Cesar will be provided with a better start.I think he would become one of the first polish dogs with such an equipment

Backstory

Gloria Jean Bone

Backstory

“My coworker, Justina had Moe Joe as a puppy or young dog. Justina’s sister told me that Moe Joe went everywhere with Justina , the laundry mat etc. Everywhere Justina was Moe Joe was there too. I know Justina has a deep great love for her fur baby and has shed many a tear seeing Moe Joe’s vision decline and seeing him run into walls, and now getting stuck behind the toilet. Moe Joe was and is a beautiful soul inside and out. Justina has always gone the extra mile and cooks him eggs.”

Dolly

Backstory

“We found Dolly in terrible shape Lancaster Shelter. Her teeth are beyond horrible. Once her teeth have been cleaned, she will probably lose most of what teeth she has left (many are already missing) and blind from cataracts.

Even with all of that fur, she was mellow and calm while being groomed. She is very sweet and is doing great with the other dogs at the B&B (2 of her friends are also blind!)

Update

“From the bottom of our heart, Maggie and I thank you and the angels for this incredibly generous donation.”
Amber W.

Backstory

“Maggie is a puppy that came to our rescue from a puppy mill. She is 3-4 months old. She has a genetic deformity in one eye and severe corneal scarring in the other, rendering her completely blind.

Being a puppy who has lived her life in a cage, she is extra excitable and tends to get disoriented and crash into furniture and walls quite frequently. Maggie could use a Muffin’s halo to help her keep safe and navigate her new environment.”

Update

Bert got great news today! That big, nasty ulcer has completely healed (finally) and now we can now start using eye drops that contain steroids to get rid of the red inflammation. And he has a wonderful lady that wants to be his forever Mom too! What a fantastic day it has been for this sweet boy!! ?

Update

Bert wants to give a big Thank You! to Ms. Carol and all the folks at Muffin’s Halo For Blind Dogs. We received his Halo this afternoon and he’s already gaining confidence while roaming the house. No more bumping his head! Boston Terrier Rescue East Tennessee wants to send out of huge thank you for donating this awesome halo for Bert. The kindness is beyond measure and Bert is totally loving his new found freedom with his halo

Backstory

The owner that surrendered Bert to the rescue got him from her neighbor where he was being kenneled outside all day. As you can imagine Arizona isn’t really conducive to having an outside dog. She took him in and got him examined at a free vet. He has 2 ear infections and is hard of hearing, his coat is thin and he is very flaky, and he is of course blind. Her dogs were not accepting him and so she had to surrender him to the rescue. This is where we step in.
Bert is a Boston Terrier, and we believe he is approx 10 years old. He is a sweetheart and loves bananas and cantaloupe We have bathed him and bought a brush that will help with his flakiness, we are treating his ears and he will be seen by our vet later this week. I have a feeling he will be diagnosed with cushings disease but we will see for sure in the next couple of days. He is struggling severely getting around. He moves slow due to his other issues which I have decided is a blessing as he is constantly running into things. He does ok on a leash but just can’t manage when he is off leash. I had heard of the Halo for dogs and believe this would be perfect. It hurts my heart seeing him struggle like this and I want him to be all that he can be and Muffin’s Halo would be a perfect start.”

Thank you from bottom of my heart,
Stacy

Nemo

Update

“Here’s Nemo in his new halo. Thanks so much for donating this to him.” ?

Backstory

Nemo’s had a real rough year and going blind is just one obstacle. See late last year after we moved into our new home we started noticing Nemo walking around slowly and cautiously. Then he started to bump into things. We knew that something was wrong. So he saw his vet who referred us to a local ophthalmologist who after examination determined he had retinal dystrophy in both of his eyes and on top of that he had cataracts in both eyes. If he just had cataracts he could have possibly had surgery and his eyesight could have been saved but since he had retinal dystrophy in both eyes he was going to lose his sight. It was just a matter of time. About 6 months later he pretty much lost his sight. He can still see some light but that’s it. Nemo losing his sight makes me really sad because this dog loved seeing things. When we went for walks which he absolutely loved he would look around just taking in everything he saw. When we went on drives he would look out the window checking out everything going by. He loved looking out the window to get a glimpse of a cat or squirrel or birds. He was a very visual dog and him losing his site has been hard on him. Now when he walks he struggles because he’s scared. He was getting better but then just A few months ago we started noticing him hardly eating and not having much of an appetite. We also noticed other things but we were not sure if it had something to do with him losing his sight. After many vet visits and many tests it was determined he had a mass on his small intestine. He went into surgery four weeks ago to remove the mass. It was the only way they could test it to see if it was cancer. The surgery was tough on him. He lost quite a bit of weight and we had a hard time getting him to eat. The incision was rather large on his abdomen. He was in pain and just felt awful. A few days after the surgery we found out the mass was cancer. They do believe they removed the entire mass but they are afraid it will come back. So right now we have been struggling with figuring out the best way to treat Nemo. And in the meantime through all of this he’s blind and he does not understand why everything is happening to him. But he is getting better. It would be great if he didn’t have to bump into things anymore. It would be great to see him have his confidence back. Here’s my little guy. He is 11 years old and he’s my baby. I love Nemo so very much. He also has a little sister that is 9 years old and she’s doing pretty good thank goodness. Anyways I just wanted to share Nemo story. He’s one special little guy!
