Update
“Miss Maggie thanks you for her Muffin’s Halo”
Backstory
Maggie is an 8 year old Standard Poodle. She used to be our crazy baby, always running and playing and being a general goofball with her brother Jaxx. This is until just before she was diagnosed with SARDS in April. At first we noticed that she was bumping into things and having trouble with the many stairs in our house and slowly she just stopped moving around the house at all. We are guessing because she never knew where she was. It was heartbreaking when we soon found out that she had a little understood auto-immune disease called SARDS. We have spent tons of time and energy doing our best to make her comfortable in the house and understanding this crazy disease. It has come with excessive drooling, constant thirst and hunger as well as incontinence to name a few side effects. Shortly after she was diagnosed she started vomiting up mass amounts of blood and spent days in ICU where we found out she had severe Pancreatitis. Through tons of meds, IV fluids etc, we nursed her through that while still trying to figure out as much as we could about her vision loss and making her more comfortable in our home. She is in a good place right now with the pancreatitis under control but her vision loss due to SARDS is still an issue as we have 3 full sets of stairs in our home, 2 of which are hardwood that she won’t go near anymore since she is afraid of falling. This leaves her alone on the main floor at night and any time we go upstairs which is upsetting for her and us. Needless to say it has been a very rough few months. We are hoping that Muffins Halo is the boost she needs.
