Backstory
My husband and myself back in February adopted our Arcadia. Arcadia, is almost two years young, husky German shepherd mixed. When we first met her we wanted to take her right home, due to a disease shepherd had in her right eye at that time we were unable to. She has blood pressure behind her eye they told us so she had to have it removed. As soon as she became adoptable, we went right away and got our newest bundle.
Late March, Arcadia started showing mama signs of complete blindness. We went right away to the vet to find she is completely blind now in her left eye, the blood pressure is now so bad behind her left eye she now tomorrow is gonna have her left eye removed as well. Arcadia has taken right to me more now then ever, which I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I try so hard to constantly keep track of her every move, talking to her every step of the way, it seems to have already started to boost her confidence with what I have been doing. I put a harness right on her as soon as I very first realized myself she was blind. Mothers instinct, we always know. I am still very worried for her when I can not be with her. Which is not often at all, but for the two of us especially mama is very nerve racking.
I have to say how very proud of her I am, she is the bravest dog I have ever met, she is so grateful for love and protection, as I am so thankful for her. I believe God put her in my path at the perfect time so she had enough time to be prepared for this.
Of course I wish there was more I could do for her, at this time we are doing the very best we can. My husband was talking to me about us looking into something for her safety as well as her confidence, so I seen these, absolutely by far the best thing anyone could have created for the blind dogs. At this time with all the vet bills with this so far at this time sure can’t afford it.
