Backstory
“My friend found your site after she came to visit and I told her the story of my sweet Bella. I rescued her from Avery Creek shelter in March of 2010. She is half beagle have doxie.
They had really given up on her as one of her lungs had collapsed and she set up Pneumonia and one of the shelter workers took her home to try to help her but they were ready to put her down. I had already fell in love with her and had paid the adoption fee over the web as the shelter was about two hours from my home.
I pleaded to please just let me try and help her and promised to have her fixed when she was healed. I brought her home with her weighing being just under 1 lb.
I bottle fed her Pedialyte and tube Vitamins but her breathing still was so bad although she was gaining weight. I decided to give her my Nebulizer treatments that I had given my young child in very small Intervals. Her breathing got stronger and stronger as I continued to do this daily. She began to play and grow stronger everyday and began the love of our lives. She is the sweetest most precious baby you could ever meet.
At 3 years old her eyes starting becoming cloudy and continued to worsen as time went on. I saved and saved to get her to a Veterinarian who specialized in eye surgery. During this time I lost my husband at only 49 years old and Bella became so much more dependent on just me.
I took her to Athens Ga to an eye specialist in 2014 with the money I had saved to try to get her eyes fixed but the Dr said she had to much rumble in her chest so more testing had to be done. After a long process and a lot of tears, they decided that they couldn’t chance putting her to sleep due to the collapsed lung that had never healed. I was so heartbroken.
I had prayed for the day my Bella could see my face and her older brother Moe, who is a miniature Doxie which is now 10. Moe seems to be her eyes and they love each other so much. My poor baby just gets worse everyday, now I am so worried she is going to injure herself running head first into the walls or worse yet poke something in her eyes and lose her eye all together.
I am praying you can help my little Bella Boo with a halo in hopes she might have a better quality of life. Thank you so much. What a wonderful thing your organization does for our little furbabies.”
