Backstory
“Charlie was born in Memphis, Tennessee. I was able to bring Charlie and his brother Beau home with me to Baton Rouge when they were 12 weeks old. Charlie started having complications ( joint would pop out of socket) with his back leg and ended up up having surgery on his knee twice. A few years later, when I brought in for a checkup with our vet, he noticed something was going on with his eyes. He sent us to the LSU Vet School Opthalmolgy Department. They were able to tell us that he had glaucoma in his right eye and his left eye had an abnormality but he could see. They treated his right eye for 1 1/2 years and then removed it because the pressure was to great. I have been putting drops in Charlie’ s eye everyday for the past 4 years. His left eye developed glaucoma and he has slowly lost his vision. I am not putting drops 4 times a day and having the pressure checked in a regular basis. At my house, he was able to adjust to losing his vision but he still is unsure of himself and runs into walls. Just recently, my home was flooded and I had to move in to my parents home. He has struggled to adjust and runs into things constantly. He walks with his head low and he seems very nervous. Charlie is a precious, loving part of our family and I would love for him to be able to maneuver with confidence in all environments. Thank you for your consideration.”
