Update
“I would like to thank you for donating a Muffin’s Halo to one of our seniors named Joey. Joey was hit by a car in Orange County about 7 yrs ago and the shelter had picked him off the streets. He was such a sweet dog the shelter held onto him as long as they could. When his time to be euthanized came up the shelter people sent out emails to rescues to see if a rescue could take him. We offered to take him and have had him ever since the day they brought him to us. It is very difficult to find forever homes for disabled dogs and cats.
Since Joey has been with us for such a long time he has become very social at any event we take him to. Three years ago our rescue embarked on a project called DAWGS – Disabled Animals Who Generously Serve.Joey was the first to go through the obedience and evaluation to be a therapy dog and volunteer with the LAX PUP – Pets Unstressing Passengers.. Joey became completely blind this year. Because he is blind he has got to go through airport evaluation again because the program has had issues with blind dogs at the airport. I guess the noise and crowds of people petting the blind dogs frightens them. I am hoping Muffin’s Halo will help Joey feel comfortable at the airport. So far he is doing fine going to busy places. If not he will still volunteer at other places like schools and retirement places, using his Muffin’s Halo. Thank you again for what you do to make sure every blind dog can wear a Muffin’s Halo.”

Backstory
“7 yrs ago OC shelter needed a rescue to take him, we were the only one at the time willing to take a paralyzed dog since that is what we did, rescuing disabled. They brought him to us. he was found on the streets paralyzed they think he was hit by a car, nothing broken more like nerve damage. Over the years he has been able to stand more but crawling is faster so that’s what he likes to do.
He will be one of our therapy dogs volunteering at LAX on their PUP program. Pets Unstressing Passengers. it is very crowded and busy with luggage on the floors so he will need some help not bumping into things and people will be more careful petting him knowing he is blind. Actually I saw a Muffin’s Halo that says Blind Dog on it, and would be so grateful to have one to assist Joey”
