“Our sweet Maggie Mae and Bogart wearing their angel wings thanks to the generous donation from their secret angels, Muffin’s Halo For Blind Dogs, and Second Chances for Blind Dogs!
Muffin’s Halo For Blind Dogs, helps vision impaired animals like Maggie Mae and Bogart navigate their way around the kennels and sanctuary. Second Chances for Blind Dogs is Muffin’s Halo’s non-profit that donates halos to blind dogs and shelters.
Maggie Mae, for those not familiar with her, is blind in both eyes. While Bogart isn’t blind, he has some neurological issues that affect his sight causing him to lose his sense of direction. Having a Muffin’s Halo angel wings helps Maggie Mae and Bogart navigate their surroundings and keep them from bumping into walls and avoid injuries.
Our heartfelt thanks to the kind angels, Second Chances for Blind Dogs, and Muffin’s Halo For Blind Dogs for making life easier for Maggie Mae and Bogart!”
Backstory
Maggie Mae was rescued by the Philippine Animal Rescue Team (PART) in June of 2014. Photos of her was shared in various dog groups on Facebook and ultimately made its way to us. Two days after we found out about her, and under the assumption that someone was rescuing her, it turned out that she was still waiting. So we sent our volunteer rescuers to look for her. She was found in the streets, baking in the heat with no food or water in sight, and laying next to a deceased dog. We have no information on the other dog.
Maggie Mae was emaciated and she tested positive for Distemper and Erlichia. She has since been treated and has been living in the sanctuary since her release from out partner vet.
We initially wanted to make changes to her kennel but we operate on a shoestring budget so we have had to make do with what we have.
Maggie Mae gets to roam around with supervision from our staff at the sanctuary. She loves to eat and take naps. As you can see, she has gained weight.
